Happy Friday and May Day Everyone! Today we start our May Scripture Writing Plan – Your Identity in Christ. And I am here to share my Day 1-May Scripture Plan verse page, as well as some of the creative twists I put on this month’s plan.
Before we get started I wanted to share my scripture writing journal. I am using an A5 stalogy notebook in a custom A5 planner binder. Anyways, let’s get on with today’s scripture.

Day 1-May Scripture Plan
Verse & My Thoughts
Today’s scripture is 1 John 3:1 which reads: See what a great love the Father has given us that we should be called God’s children – and we are! This is such a great reminder of your identity in Christ. We are children of God, I am the daughter of the King. How amazing is that? What a tremendous privilege to be a Child of God.
But we don’t become children of God, just because we are born to this world. Becoming a child of God takes more than that, not much more but it takes a bit of you’re effort. It’s being born of God. It’s seeking Him, and being spiritually born again, having our souls awaken unto God by the work of the Holy Spirit. It’s important that we all know this first.
Now let’s think about God’s love for us, and let this truth sink deeply into our being. God’s love for us is so great that He took the initiative to make us His children, a love that gives lavishly & freely to those who are utterly undeserving. Now that’s a big love if you ask me. God’s love for us is unconditional and we are lucky to be children of God.
This is a great verse to start off with for Day 1-May Scripture Plan – Your Identity in Christ. What better way is there to learn about our identity in Christ, than being called A Child of God!
Day 1-May Scripture Plan
A little bit of creativeness
So as I mentioned before, I decided to switch things up a bit this month. Normally, I’ll add some washi tape to the top of my page, and a little distress ink to the edges.
But this month each day I’ll be creating a pretty page in my scripture writing journal. I will also be making a memory dex card for the verse too.

I love how this little page turned out. What do you think? Basically I typed up the verse and my thoughts and layered them on top of pieces of scrap scrapbook paper. Afterward, I took my purple distress ink and added some color. A simply decorated page that added a bit of prettiness to a journal of scriptures I’ll eventually be passing down.
My memory dex card turned out pretty too! I had tons of scrapbook paper scraps and used them to create my card. I used my Cricut to cut the cards and some of the embellishments too.

I also added my thoughts to the back of the card, basically it’s what I’ve shared above. I am really big on using layers lately, and I think it adds depth, personality. Anyways, here’s the back.

I again typed out all the words and then printed them out. To soften up the white paper a bit I added some antique linen distress ink to them. I finished the card by adding the little hearts, and planner clip to the top.
If you would like a similar version of this memory dex card you can now purchase it from my Etsy shop. Each day I’ll make two memory dex cards, one for me and the other for my shop.
Day 1-May Scripture Plan
final thoughts
Learning your identity in Christ isn’t easy for everyone. It’s something I am still getting used to. God’s love is unconditional, many of us have gone through life with conditional love.
In life we nearly have to earn everything, approval, acceptance, oftentimes even love. But with God it’s different. He doesn’t fall out of love with us because we gained weight. He won’t condemn us if we make a mistake/sin. His love is more powerful than we can comprehend. It’s so deep that we are called His children.
Please understand that I am not an expert on God or His Word. There isn’t a verse that He’s put on my path that I don’t spend hours picking it apart. I own several translations of the Bible that I use in my Bible studies, as well as commentaries.
But what I am is a woman once lost, with no one else to turn I turned to Him. Once I started to get to know Him, I started getting sad because of all the time I wasted not knowing Him. There is a desire that grows from the pit of my soul, to know God so deeply that when I am 65 I can be a Miss Clara to someone.
I use Faith Crafts and Coffee to share my testimonies, thoughts on verses, and all the creative things I create while spending time with Him. If there is just one person, for each thing I share who seeks Him, I will be grateful. But all the Praises to Him! Because without Him none of this would be possible.
I want His light to shine through me for others to see. When people look at me I want them to see His goodness. I am just a child of God, that can’t keep all His goodness to myself.
Thank You & Many Blessings!
