Hello Loves! It’s Day 8 of My 40 Day Sugar Fast and I feel great. It’s been a couple of busy days for me and my Etsy shop, this is why I haven’t shared my daily fast posts. Hopefully from here on out, I can. My time alone with God routine has evolved since I started this fast.
I start each day getting up earlier than the house and spend an hour and 15 mins doing my 40 Day Sugar Fast study, at lunch I meditate and research scriptures that were in my study. Then I have a nightly 30- 45 minutes that I’ve started referring to as my nightly gratitude.
Day 8 of My 40 Day Sugar Fast
If you’ve been following me on here or socially, you already know I am an obsessed journaler. I have filled journals from past years in little boxes in my closet. Over the years I have discovered many different styles and brands that I’ve enjoyed. For the most part, my favorites have been standard traveler’s notebooks, Stalogy B6 size, and Hobonichi mega weeks style. I have a few different covers for each style, but my favorite has to be the Moterm.
Right before I started this fast I pulled out my Happy Planner classic and started messing around with it. I use my HP with filler paper, not the calendar inserts. I realized that I like the way the HP is set up with pages turning freely or I can flip the planer over and write on the back page and the planner is flat. (I hope that makes sense) I also spent some time researching ways to get up the HP.
And . . . I found out that a Happy Planner Mini which is very close in size to the Stalogy B6 will fit into a Moterm cover. Say what? This girl did the happy dance around the craft room. One of the main reasons I didn’t use my HP is because I couldn’t find a cover that I enjoyed with it. But now I can and I’ve been using it for this 40 Day Sugar Fast Study. I am so excited and can’t wait to share the notes I’ve taken from this study.
Today’s focus was about how we can depend on God, casting our cares on Him, and using Him as our crutch instead of sugary treats. It’s a great lesson and reminder that God cares for us and wants us to bring all our cares, and worries to Him. Psalm 54:4 says – Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. He is there for us always, He holds our lives dearly and we’re important to Him.
Another scripture that was in our study today was Psalm 55:22 which says – Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken. Got worries, troubles, heartache, an addiction, or even a headache talk to God. Ask for His help, ask Him how you should approach the situation, what does He want you to do on your end, and let go and listen. God’s got you and me! We can use Him as a crutch to lean on when we need it, and we don’t have to run to our sugary treats.
Day 8 of My 40 Day Sugar Fast – Final thoughts
I am leaning on God for strength, courage, and fulfillment when my sugar cravings happen. But I am not just seeking Him so He can help me, I am seeking Him because I hunger to know more bout about Him. Honestly, the more I spend time with Him in His Word and learning His truths I hunger for more. Some days it’s like my sugar-loving binges when I could eat and eat and never get enough.
So friends, take it from me, the Bible speaks volumes of truths and I’ve experienced some of the amazingness it speaks of. So fill yourself up with God’s words and wait, because the hunger, desire, and aching feeling to have more will come. Oh, trust me it will. Our God is an amazing God, He loves us like no other, seek Him and you’ll see.
