Do you love pretty things? Are you on the thrifty side and refuse to pay some of the pretty prices for holiday decor? No worries! You’ve come to the right spot for pretty decor on the thrifty girl’s budget. Today I am sharing my Grandin Road Designer Pumpkin Mock-up how-to. I am seriously surprised at how well this project turned out.

Grandin Road Designer Pumpkin Mock-up
This was another easy peasy project and so affordable. The above image is of the Designer Pumpkin I fell in love with from Grandin Road. It’s made from polyresin and costs $59.00 which is more than I want to pay for a piece of fall decor. So after a little thinking, I came up with a great way to create my own Grandin Road Designer Pumpkin. Did I mention I created it with as little as $3? Yep, that’s all it cost to make this pretty little thing.
So what do you think? Wait until you hear how I made it!

Supplies needed:
Trick or Treat Pumpkin Bucket (Walmart for $1.00)
Stickie circles or
Black vinyl to create dots
Black paint to paint on dots or black marker to color stickie circles
Clay
Gold paint
Fingernail polish remover
Cotton balls or paper towel
Paintbrush if you’re painting on your dots
Steps to create your Designer Pumpkin Mock-up
1 – Using the fingernail polish remover and cotton ball remove the face from your pumpkin.
2 – Cut the black handle off the pumpkin.
3 – Turn your pumpkin upside down with the opening at the bottom. Start adding the dots to your pumpkin. I used my Cricut and cut 25 1″ circles out of vinyl I had. But you can also use the round stickie labels and color or paint them black. You can also paint your dots directly onto the pumpkin. It’s up to you and what works with supplies you already have on hand.
4 – Now it’s time to form the stem out of the clay, once you’re happy with the shape you’re going to firmly press the bottom edge of the stem to your buckets center. It shouldn’t need adhesive, but if you want you can add a dab of hot glue to secure it into place. Next, you’re going to paint the stem with gold paint. Let it dry overnight so that the stem cures properly.
There you have it a designer pumpkin that could have cost you $59.00 for $3! Another pretty to add to your fall decorating collection all on the dime and it took very little of your time to create.

Final Thoughts
This was a super easy project and can be made very cheaply, but doesn’t look like a cheap piece. If you wanted to get really crafty you could spray paint the pumpkin white and add gold dots for a glam look. I think this project would be pretty in teal with gold or white dots. There are so many other ways to use the Walmart Pumpkin Buckets, and I can’t wait to share another project I will be starting later this weekend using these buckets.
Like I’ve said before, I love having pretty things but refuse to spend a ton of money to have them. So I figure out how I create them using #dollarstorefinds, and I share how I do them here on Faith Crafts & Pretty Things. There are loads more Fall crafting to be done, and many will work until it’s time for Christmas crafting and decorating. So stay tuned for more fall crafts, and don’t forget to share with your friends, family, and followers too.
