Welcome to FaithNPrettyThings’s Guide to Faith Planners Part 1. My hopes are that after reading this article you’ll understand the purpose of using a Faith Planner, and how helpful it can be in your walk with the Lord. I can’t express enough how much my Faith Planner has helped me grow closer to the Lord.
When I first started my walk with the Lord, over 5 years ago. I had so many questions and honestly felt very intimidated. Then one day while scouring the web for ways to study the word effectively, I came across an article talking about the movie War Room. This movie was described as an eye-opener to how to spend time talking and praying with God.
I watched it the next day and can’t tell you how much it has helped me. This movie is a must-see for new and seasoned Christians. I won’t spoil it for you by talking about it, but a few important points I took away from this movie were:
- If you have time to sit and dwell on what’s wrong with everything, you have time to spend with God.
- Spend time in the Word, read and learn scriptures.
- Talk, pray and fight your battles with God and His Word.
- Write your Prayers Down.
Write your prayers down, so you don’t forget them and so you can later record how God answered them. This is what led me to create my first Faith Planner. Miss Clara used an old beat-up spiral notebook to write her prayers down in.
Guide to Faith Planners Part 1 – Purpose
While I believe the purpose of a Faith Planner differs for everyone, the general idea of using one is the same. A Faith Planner is a place to document your walk with God. It’s designed to help busy Christians achieve their spiritual, personal, and professional goals by keeping Christ at the center of their daily lives.
For me, my faith planner is used as an act of worship, a place to write my prayers, scriptures, gratitude, and helps me spend more time with God and in His Word. Honestly, it’s as important to me as my cell phone, it’s like my lifeline. My cell phone is the link to how my family reaches me, my Faith Planner is part of my link to God.
A Faith Planner is unique to each person using it, but mostly as I said before it’s a place to document your personal walk with the Lord. It’s a documented legacy of your Faith and something that can be passed down to a loved one.
How can keeping a Faith Planner help you with your walk with the Lord? Like I mentioned above it’s a place to document your Faith. For me, it was easy to pick up my bible and read, but retaining scripture wasn’t. So when I come across a verse that speaks to me I write it down in my Faith Planner.
I write my prayers down, so I won’t forget them and later I can document how they were answered. Imagine a year from now, and you’ve gotten a notebook full of notes, prayers, and scriptures. Now imagine passing down your notebook to your child, loved one, etc.
