Happy Friday! Yeah, we made it through another work week. And I am pleased to say I am here to share June Scripture Day 5 verse and Bible journaling page.
Today’s scripture is from the Book of Ephesians, one of my favorite books in the Bible. Ephesians was written by the Apostle Paul. But I have read that some believe it was written by one of his disciples. Anyways, let’s move along and talk about today’s scripture Ephesians 2:8. Please note that I share the CSB translation for the scriptures we discuss here.
June Scripture Day 5
Ephesians 2:8 CSB says: “For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift.”
This scripture is for the most part pretty straight forward. But I dug into it anyways. If you’ve already read Ephesians you probably came to the conclusion that Paul’s theme for Ephesians was grace. The first few chapters focus on God’s grace, and the last few focus on how we should respond to it.
Ephesians 2:8 makes it clear that all believers are saved by God’s grace, through faith and not by works. Nothing that you or I can/could do will ever change how we earn salvation. God freely gives us His grace as a gift. He does this out of the love He has for us, even though we are unworthy of it.
So 1 year of good deeds, won’t cover the cost of the sin you committed 2 days into the year. Salvation can only be given by God. But we are called to proclaim the gospel, live it, share it, pray for the salvation of others, and help people grow in the grace of God.

Ephesians 2:8 Bible Journaling Page
I had a lot of fun creating this page, from drawing the presents to painting them with my watercolors. After studying this verse, I knew exactly what I wanted to do for my journaling page.
To create this page I drew all the presents lightly in pencil. Then I added the verse to under them. Once I was satisfied with the presents I painted them with watercolors, and went over the verse with a black pen. I finished up by adding a tab and clip to the top of my page.
June Scripture Day 5 – Ephesians 2:8
When I started my walk with God I believed that I had to be good, dress a certain way, do the right thing, and pray with the right words for Him to walk with me. I believed this for a while before Ephesians 2:8 came up in the devotional I was doing at the time.
Even after studying Ephesians 2:8, I’d think things like: why would He talk to me, waste time fixing a nearly 50 yr. old woman, I am not good enough, what can I do to make Him love me more, He’ll never listen to my prayers, let alone answer them, and so many more.
But then . . . Him knowing me, and how I think, He showed me that He did hear me, He does love me, and He will answer my prayers. There was something that meant a lot to me that I’d been praying about for a while when one day I woke up and He gave me the answer. He answered my prayer and made all the doubts I had about my worth disappear.
My point behind all that was I learned that day, that nothing I did – didn’t do would make me less important than someone that did it all right. Although I read it in God’s truth and knew that what’s written in His Words is life – I doubted. I hope this helps anyone else with doubts.
I am not perfect, nor am I a scholar on the Bible. I am just an average woman who loves God and enjoys talking about her walk with Him.
