Hello Loves! Welcome to Faith Crafts and Coffee. I am so glad you dropped in today, I am about to answer your question What is a War Binder? After reading all the details be sure to watch my little video above about war binders.
I believe that women of faith have been using war binders for generations. Grandmothers and mothers have used little notebooks to write their prayers, take notes at church, etc for years. But unless you had seen them with it you may have the same question I am here to answer today. What is a War Binder? Below is a picture of my current war binders.
What is a War Binder?
I wasn’t fortunate enough to have had a grandma or mother that used a war binder. I didn’t learn about a war binder until I started my faith journey about 2 years ago.
The first time I heard the term war binder was after watching the movie War Room. Let me just say, if you haven’t seen this movie yet it’s a must-see. It completely changed my thoughts on prayers, placing blame, and so much more.
In the movie, there is a devoted Christian woman named Miss Clara. She uses one of her closets for praying. It’s called her, “war room”, she calls it that because she wages spiritual war in prayer against the enemy there.
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” –Ephesians 6:12
Really this is a movie you’ve got to watch. Anyways, many of us don’t have a room/closet that we can use for our spiritual warfare, so we create a war binder.
A war binder is a war room that’s portable
The above image is of my war binder, prayer journal, scripture journal, bible, journaling bible, and current devotional. I love keeping them in my faith bag so that if I need to be downstairs I can easily grab them all.
So let’s get back to what a war binder is. It’s a war room that’s portable and can be created in many different ways. A war binder can be created in a binder, traveler’s notebook, A5 planner, composition notebook, stalogy journal, the options are countless. If you click on each of the mentioned styles I’ve listed you can read more about each one and how to create that particular style.
How do I use my War Binder?
First, let me say a war binder is very personal, what you put in it will be between you and God. It should draw you closer to the Lord in prayer. Allow His Word to guide you in your faith walk, and what you’re inspired to enter into it.
To help you get started here are a few sections you can start with:
– prayer requests
– answered prayers
– devotions & sermon notes
– Bible study notes
– worship lyrics
– scripture writing
The bottom line is you can put anything in your war binder that draws you closer to the Lord. It should also help you wage your own spiritual war against the enemy.
What is a war binder – My final thoughts
A war binder is a portable war room so that you can wage your own spiritual war anywhere you go. Your battle plan, a place to write down your prayers, answered prayers, gratitude, and whatever else God inspires you to keep in it.
You can create your own war binder in a binder, journal, planner, notebook, sketchbook, or any other means available to you. It’s for use in your personal faith journey and should work for you.
